The art project “What Water Tells” is about the uniqueness of the waters around Nordhalben.
During my stay in Nordhalben, the residents were proud to tell me about the history of the River Rodach. In earlier times, the Rodach was used for rafting, which is how wood from the Franconian Forest reached the Netherlands.
The Mauthaus drinking water dam – also known as the Ködeltalsperre – is a dam in Bavaria that was built from 1968 to 1972 near Nordhalben in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach to supply drinking water. It was the first drinking water dam in Bavaria.
In my resident exhibition, an old man wrote “Unser Titschenbach, Grenze und „Eiserner Vorhang“ über 44 Jahre.” (“Our Titschenbach, border and “Iron Curtain” over 44 years.”) Titschenbach here was a border creek that blocked East and West Germany.

Water always plays an important role in this small town.
